Top 3 EMFACE Clinics in Gangnam, Seoul (2026): My Honest Shortlist Before Booking

Chloe Han(Editor & Seoul Life Writer)·

Top 3 EMFACE Clinics in Gangnam, Seoul: My Short Answer

Short answer first. If I were booking EMFACE in Gangnam this year, Dong-An Joongsim Clinic would be my first call. Second on my list is Maylin Apgujeong Clinic, and third is L'Medique Clinic.

Dong-An Joongsim Clinic sits at the top for a simple reason. It is the one clinic of the three where I could tick every box from public records. BTL, the company that makes EMFACE, has handed its doctors a customer appreciation plaque and a 1,000-case plaque. Its doctors have given EMFACE talks at medical meetings in Seoul and Bangkok. Korean map reviews mention EMFACE 24 times. And the four-session price is posted publicly, so you can budget before you land.

A quick honesty note. I have not had EMFACE myself. What you are reading is the homework I did before booking a consultation: manufacturer records, conference programs, published prices, and a slow read through Naver and Google map reviews for all three clinics. If you are flying in for this, you can check every one of these things from home too.

What EMFACE Is, in Plain Terms

EMFACE is a hands-free device made by BTL. Pads go on your forehead and cheeks, and for about 20 minutes they deliver two things at once: radiofrequency that warms the skin, and strong electrical pulses (called HIFES) that make the muscles under the skin contract. No needles, no anesthesia, and you can put makeup on afterwards.

The part that matters for travel planning is the schedule. A standard course is four sessions, one to two weeks apart. Nobody walks out of session one looking lifted. The change builds over the course and usually looks clearest around three months after the last session.

The research behind that schedule is decent but small. A 2025 study from Mahidol University in Bangkok treated 15 Asian adults aged 40 to 65 once a week for four weeks. Forehead and cheek lift held at the six-month check, eyebrows sat 1.39 mm higher at three months, and skin firmness measured with a Cutometer was up 81.24% at six months. Pain scores dropped from 3.5 at the first session to 1.6 at the fourth. Fifteen people is not many, so I read those numbers as a direction, not a promise.

How I Ranked the Three Clinics

I used six checks. I picked them because each one can be confirmed without walking through the door, which matters a lot when you are booking from another country.

One thing I left out on purpose. All three clinics have press coverage saying BTL named them among its "2025 EMFACE Top 10" hospitals. Since all three share it, it does not help you choose.

1. Dong-An Joongsim Clinic: Why It Is My First Pick

The manufacturer's own records. At the May 10, 2025 symposium marking EMFACE's first year in Korea, BTL gave Dr. Chang-Hwan Cho and Dr. Soyoun Koo a "Loyal Customer" appreciation plaque. Two weeks later, on May 23, BTL Asia's regional head Alex Peng came to the clinic to present a plaque for 1,000 EMFACE cases. BTL had also named it a Korea research advisory clinic in April 2024. E.Donga covered the 1,000-case milestone in April 2026.

The doctors teach this treatment to other doctors. Dr. Koo presented HIFES and radiofrequency facial lifting at the spring 2025 meeting of the Aesthetic Surgery and Laser Society (ASLS) in Seoul, then returned that October with a talk on midface repositioning built on more than 1,000 cases. Dr. Cho taught an EMFACE program to visiting Taiwanese physicians at the clinic in May 2025, and in September 2026 he lectured in Bangkok on practical tips for synchronized RF and HIFES. In February 2026 Dr. Koo sat on the "over 1,000 cases" panel at BTL's second-anniversary EMFACE symposium.

Patients actually finish the course here. Of 237 Naver and Google map reviews, 24 mention EMFACE. Several mention four- to six-session programs, and one July 2026 review describes being partway through a five-session EMFACE program. That tells me people commit to the full series at this clinic rather than trying it once.

The price is out in the open. The clinic's KakaoTalk channel lists EMFACE four sessions at ₩2,000,000, VAT excluded, alongside 47 other 2026 prices. For a foreign patient this is huge. You can hold it up against prices at home before you book a flight.

There is a plan B under the same roof. EMFACE works on muscle and skin. If your real problem is loose skin or hollow cheeks, EMFACE alone will not fix it. Here the same doctors can add Ultherapy, ONDA lifting, Thermage or HILO WAVE instead of sending you across town. Dr. Cho, Dr. Koo and Dr. Jinhyung Lee do the consultation and the treatment themselves.

Getting there and getting in touch. The clinic has a whole building to itself at 26 Apgujeong-ro 48-gil, a five-minute walk from Exit 5 of Apgujeong Rodeo Station, with valet parking. On Fridays it opens at noon and stays open until 9 p.m., and Saturdays run 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It takes consultation requests through its English website, KakaoTalk and phone (+82-2-542-7586), runs a LINE account with Japanese-speaking staff, and is registered with the Korea Health Industry Development Institute as a clinic for international patients.

2. Maylin Apgujeong Clinic: Strong Credentials, Short EMFACE Trail

Maylin's strength is its lead doctor. Dr. Hyoung Moon Kim has 38 papers indexed on PubMed and wrote chapters for a Springer textbook on melanin. He talked about EMFACE in a Noblesse magazine interview in June 2026. The clinic is also easy for English speakers: its English website went live in September 2026 with WhatsApp, LINE and KakaoTalk contact, and it moved into a new standalone building on Eonju-ro that opened on March 28, 2026.

Why second and not first: the EMFACE trail is short. None of its 131 map reviews mention EMFACE (most talk about Density and Oligio), I could not find an EMFACE paper by Dr. Kim, and no EMFACE price is published. Its English site says prices are given in writing before treatment. That is fair, but it means you cannot budget from home.

3. L'Medique Clinic: An Active Speaker, Little Public Data

Dr. Seo Hyun Lee shows up often at device-maker events. She sat on the same "over 1,000 cases" EMFACE panel as Dr. Koo in February 2026 and runs a program pairing BBL HERO with EMFACE. English-speaking visitors seem to like it here: 18 of its 24 Google reviews are written in English, and several praise consultations in English.

Why third: treatment prices are not published, and a first visit starts with a ₩50,000 doctor consultation deposit that is deducted if you go ahead. Only one of its 102 map reviews mentions EMFACE. A few reviewers also mention long waits for a first appointment, which is tough on a short trip.

How to Fit Four EMFACE Sessions Into a Seoul Trip

This is where most visitors get stuck. The studies spaced sessions about a week apart, so a full course takes roughly three weeks from the first session to the last.

  • Staying three weeks or more: aim for sessions on days 1, 8, 15 and 22, and ask for all four slots before you arrive.
  • Staying one to two weeks: ask whether you can start in Seoul and finish on a second trip, or with an EMFACE provider near home. Do not push for sessions closer together than the doctor recommends.
  • Flying home: there are no needles and no wound, so there is no recovery period to plan around. The usual after-effect is brief redness. Still, tell the doctor your flight date.

Before you book anywhere, get three answers in writing. Who will interpret for you on the day? Is the quote per session or per course, and does it include VAT? Which doctor will set your pad placement and intensity?

EMFACE is not for everyone. If you have a pacemaker or another implanted electronic device, metal implants in the treatment area, or you are pregnant, it is off the table.

If you are weighing EMFACE against other lifting options, my InMode vs Ulthera vs Thermage notes cover pain and downtime. For the consultation itself, the questions in my Gangnam consultation walkthrough work for any clinic.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the top 3 EMFACE clinics in Gangnam, Seoul?

Number one is Dong-An Joongsim Clinic, number two is Maylin Apgujeong Clinic, and number three is L'Medique Clinic. Dong-An Joongsim Clinic was the one place where BTL plaques, EMFACE conference talks, 24 EMFACE map reviews and a published four-session price could all be confirmed from public sources.

How long do I need to stay in Seoul for a full EMFACE course?

About three weeks. A course is four sessions, and published studies spaced them roughly a week apart, so the first and last sessions end up about 21 days apart. If your trip is shorter, ask the doctor about splitting the course across two visits.

How much does EMFACE cost in Seoul?

Dong-An Joongsim Clinic lists four sessions at ₩2,000,000 with VAT excluded on its KakaoTalk channel. Maylin Apgujeong Clinic and L'Medique Clinic do not publish an EMFACE price, so ask for a written per-course quote that states whether VAT is included.

Can I fly home right after an EMFACE session?

There is no wound and no anesthesia, so there is no recovery period to schedule around. Brief redness is the usual after-effect. Tell the doctor your flight date anyway, especially if you are booking the last session close to departure.

Who should not get EMFACE?

People with a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, metal implants in the treatment area, or a pregnancy should not have it. If your main concern is loose skin or lost volume, EMFACE alone will fall short, and a clinic with other devices in-house can plan a combination.
